Stunning Result in Redcar

Lib Dems scored a big gain from Labour in yesterday's Redcar byelection, taking more than half the vote.

The election result for Zealand ward on Redcar and Cleveland Council was:

Liberal Democrats (Alison Barnes): 446 (50.8%, +15.5)
Labour: 191 (21.6%, –25.2)
Reform UK: 119 (13.5%, new)
Green Party: 65 (7.4%, new)
Conservative: 62 (7.0%, –10.9)
