The Liberal Democrats have chosen local campaigner Connor Stallard, as their candidate for Foggy Furze in next May’s local elections. The election is to be held on May 7th 2026, and if elected, Connor would be the first Lib Dem elected onto the council since 2008.

Connor lives locally in the ward, and has done his whole life. He has been involved in multiple local groups, previously having been involved in the Belle Vue Centre working with young people organising events for young people across Hartlepool.

The Lib Dems have previously represented Foggy Furze in the 2000s, and are eyeing up the ward again as part of their recent revival in Hartlepool.

Connor has pledged to to stand up for fellow local residents if elected to serve as their councillor:

“Residents are desperate for change. Labour and the Conservatives have for too long took our town for granted, and never kept in regular contact with residents. Residents tell me that they are fed up with the Labour let down machine, as well as their constant failure running the council, putting up council tax nearly 5% last year in what are incredibly hard times for so many families.

“At this election, it’s a clear choice between more of the same from Labour and me, a hardworking Lib Dem with a record of action and who lives in the ward.

“If elected, I’ll work hard on the issues that matter to residents, getting value for money from our council tax, pushing for improvements to local roads, and supporting crucial local services constantly under threat as a result of years of central government cuts.”
