Hartlepool Lib Dems Launch their 2026 Campaign
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Liberal Democrats in Hartlepool have officially launched their campaign for the 2026 Hartlepool Council elections. With six candidates standing for election, this is the best showing of Liberal Democrat candidates in Hartlepool for many years.
Joined by Councillor Jemma Joy from Redcar & Cleveland, and Councillor Alex Neil from Durham, the Liberal Democrats outlined their three point plan for Hartlepool: clean up the town, action for safer roads, and a fair deal from council tax.
The party highlighted its ongoing commitment to fighting for a fair deal for Hartlepool, following what many have seen as two years of let down from the Labour-led council.
Connor Stallard, Liberal Democrat candidate for Foggy Furze, said:
"For two years too long, Labour has let down Hartlepool; both locally, and nationally. The council has failed to deliver on their promises; hiking council tax, and being soft on fly-tipping criminals. This election is a once in a generation chance for change, and ensuring that our community gets the fair deal it deserves.
I am proud to lead a team of six incredible candidates who are committed to bringing fresh ideas, renewed energy, and a fairer vision for Hartlepool’s future. We are not just offering an alternative, but a real, hopeful future for our town."
Nationally, it is the Liberal Democrats who are taking on Reform and winning, seen in dozens of council by-elections – and in Hartlepool, the Liberal Democrats are offering a real alternative to Labour’s let down, and a council of chaos with Reform.
A candidates list will soon be released on the Hartlepool Liberal Democrat website online at: northeastlibdems.org.uk/hartlepool – and can be seen on the Hartlepool Liberal Democrat Facebook.
